Why Taekwondo?

Taekwondo is fun, fast and great for fitness. Various studies have ranked Taekwondo the #1 sport for intense cardiovascular impact and the sport with most calories burned per hour*.

Alongside significantly improving fitness, the programme will develop and improve the children physically and mentally.

Lifelong change

The physical development will come through high energy fun activities, learning the basic techniques, developing coordination, flexibility and power through pad work and striking and agility and whole-body control through a range of coordination and physical drills.

Across the course of the programme, the children will also learn the tenets of Taekwondo and how they can be the foundations for self-improvement and personal growth.

“The Kick For Change project excites me so much as I started out doing taekwondo in an after school club and the way that it helped me out as a youngster and nurtured me into this way of life has truly been amazing. Seeing the enthusiasm from the kids that come into the national centre and having conversations with Ian about what they have been up to and how it helps their overall fitness I think this is a great initiative to push further and further.”
